The year 2005 is now a thing of the past. But it was a glorious past for OMLI. It left a string of accomplishments and achievements which inspires us to work harder to achieve greater goals and targets come 2006.
Achievements in 2005 include: the offering for the first time the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) services; full-commissioning of the Inductively-Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) both of which were in full operation simultaneously in January; Recognition of our Cebu-Lab by the DENR-EMB in May; By the third Quarter, the Hitachi UV-VIS and Hitachi AAS came into full operation also. About this time, we hurdled the Surveillance Audit of DENR-EMB and the BPSLAS Audit for Renewal of our ISO 17025.
The Q4 kept us on our toes sponsoring symposium and forum organized by various organizations within the industrial parks that focused specifically on the environment. The biggest of these was the ECO Industrial Expo (Eco-Index) 2005 held at Mactan Economic Zone 1, Lapu Lapu City which was graced by Ms. Lilia de Lima, Director General, PEZA, where we were invited as sponsor and presentor.
We also welcomed new clients from the semiconductor, power generator and mining industries. During the last quarter, OMLI-Cebu had included in their list of capabilities, Ambient Air Monitoring and Analysis.
Just as there were milestones, there were also setbacks. One of the setback is the semi-retirement of Marijane M. Cruz, our able and competent Laboratory Manager for over 15 years. Her post was taken over by Ms. Raquel A. Quicoy who acts as OIC at present.
We now bid the year 2005 goodbye with thanksgiving and gratitude. Join us as we welcome the year 2006 with HOPE and OPTIMISM.
